5 Cheapest Hotels in Paris – A 2012 Travel Guide

We all need a nice holiday sometimes, but going to one of the biggest capitals in the world is never going to be particularly cheap. Especially Paris. But that isn’t to say you can’t go finding a bargain in the city of Love. We’ve trawled the sights and sounds of the city (it’s a hard life!) and put together a list of the five best cheap hotels in Paris. One disclaimer: they may not technically be the cheapest, but they are the best ones that are cheap!

1/ The Hotel Elysées Parc Monceau

Certainly not at the lowest end of the scale, but also by no means close the highest in terms of prices, the Hotel Elysées Parc Monceau is a great Paris venue that is perfect for a weekend stopover, or indeed more. Located in the 17th arrondissement of Paris, close to the centre for mere plebiscites like me, the hotel is ideally situated for easy access to all the central landmarks and must-see places. The staff there are friendly, English-speaking and well-equipped to give you advice and tips on your travels in the city.  They can even give you discounts on tickets if you buy at the hotel, so be sure to ask!

2/ Hotel Du Levant

Found in the centre of Paris’ famous Latin quarter, the Hotel du Levant is a comfortable and well-kept hotel that is sure to tick your boxes. Delightful rooms and a tasty breakfast will greet you at the du Levant, and their professional and friendly staff will help you feel immediately at home. It might lack the ultimate luxuries like a gym or swimming pool, but who needs that stuff anyway? You’re there to relax! With convenient access to the RER B (CDG airport), this hotel is also a great one for those having a quick pitstop before travelling on to pastures anew.

3/ Hotel Eldorado

A perfect hotel for travellers on a budget in the Paris area, the Hotel Eldorado offers great rates for all.  The rooms are pretty basic, but it’s definitely a step up from a hostel at a not-dissimilar price for a night, so worth considering. It’s also right by an underground station too, which means you’ll have easy and quick access to the best sights and sounds of interest in the great city, including the Pigalle, the Champs Elysées and of course The Eiffel Tower

4/The Lux Hotel

You can find the Lux Hotel between Place de la Nation and Vincennes Wood, facing the enchanting Courteline Garden. It’s perhaps apt that the name is a few letters short of luxury, as the hotel is too, but that isn’t to say it isn’t a happily bearable and affordable venue. You wouldn’t go here for your honeymoon, but as a stop-off for a few days it’s more than ample in terms of comfort, friendliness and location. Which for one of the most expensive and popular capital cities in Europe, isn’t half bad

5/ Hotel du Nord

Lastly, but by no means least-ly, is the Hotel du Nord, based – as you may have guessed – in the North of the city. It’s only a 24 room hotel, so you’ve got intimacy and hospitality all in one, not far from the metro which gives you easy access to all the best spots in Paris. They’ve even got 10 bicycles available for free rent for hotel guests, so you won’t be trapped out of the city for long whichever way. A real neat and comfortable B & B feel to this delightful Parisian house.
